Snowman with a Star...

Happy November Everyone! Wow, can you believe it's November already??? I can't! The time sure does fly by. Did you all have an awesome Halloween last night? We had a ton of fun. Some friends of ours came over and went trick-or-treating with us. My hubby was in Nashville working so we had friends and family over to keep us company. My parents handed out candy while my friend and her kids went all over the neighborhood with my son and I. I still can't believe how many kids there are in this neighborhood. I don't think it'll be this busy in the area that we're moving to. I guess we'll find out next year!

This week we have meetings scheduled with two builders to discuss designing and building our house. Did I mention that we're moving? We purchased a vacant piece of land in Bloomfield Hills so we can be closer to my son's school and friends. So, now I get to design a house. My hubby said that all he wants is his garage space and I can design everything else. He means it too! I must say, I'm a little nervous about getting overwhelmed with it all. But, I guess that's why you hire a builder and architect! We have three months to design the house as our goal for breaking ground is February 2011. I hope we make it!

I've been sooooooo lucky this week! I spent every day in my craft room!!! Yay me!!! Last Saturday I received my DT package from Magnolia and I've been working on my next magazine submissions ever since. I think I'm almost done. Maybe one more! I can't stop! It's a sickness - hehe.

And now for the reason we're here today! I was challenged to make a shaker card using any Magnolia image. I've never made a shaker card before now, so I was a little nervous about it. I kept it in the back of my head all week, trying to figure out what to do with it. Finally, on Thursday, the weather in Michigan cooled down to a chilly 50 degrees and it was my inspiration! I thought, if something is going to 'shake' in Michigan in November, it's got to be SNOW! And 'snow' made me think of a SNOWMAN!!! I just happened to have a Magnolia snowman image. I took it out of my 'Christmas' drawer and away I went. I just love the result! Thanks so much Barb for the challenge!!! I never would have made this if it weren't for you :-)

So, without further delay...here's my card. I hope you like it!

Snowman with a Star

OMGoodness! Aren't Magnolia snowmen the most gorgeous snowmen stamps ever??? I just love them. I'm sorry to say that this is the only one that I have. I'm going to have to order the others! I just love them!!! This one is Snowman with Star and he's just perfect!

These gorgeous dp's are from My Mind's Eye 'Holly Jolly'. I LOVE THEM! I've purchased a lot of Christmas papers lately and these are among my favorites. You'll be seeing more from the collection as the weeks go by. The pale blue silk ribbon is from the same collection. I used my favorite smokey brown cs from Bazzill. The large snowflake is from the craft store's Christmas decor section. The small one is by Petaloo. In the center of it is a small little blue gem from Little Yellow Bicycle. I used the largest Spellbinder's 'Lacey Squares' die to cut the frame around the snowman. I filled the space between the image and the transparency with Martha Stewart 'Tinsel Glitter' in crystal. I also applied Stickles in Stardust and Icicle to the snowman's hat and the snow on the ground.

I colored this little cutie with Copic markers and then used watercolor with Ranger Distress Inks on the background. The details are as follows:

Copics: C1, 3, W1, 3, 5, 7, N9, E42, 44, 49, R39, 89, G0000, 21, 24, B00, Y11, 21, YR23

DI's: black soot, weathered wood, wild honey, tumbled glass

Well, that's it for today! Thank you so much for joining me and for all of the wonderful comments you have left in the past. They are truly appreciated and I read each and every one with a smile :-)

Ciao,

Angie

  3. Angie- are you by chance in MI? You mentioned Bloomfield Hills and I don't live that far from BFH Michigan. Also- do you have any technique tutorials on how you color around your images? I just love how they look and would love to know your secret. If you do live in Michigan, maybe you can get together with myself and Claudia sometime. :)
